Review: All-New Update 2024 Chevy Suburban SUV
Both the fifth-generation Chevrolet Tahoe and the twelfth-generation Chevrolet Suburban debuted for the 2021 model year, with a mid-cycle enhancement (also known as a refresh) for both SUVs originally scheduled for the 2024 model year. GM Authority has learned, however, that the 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2024 Suburban will not receive a model refresh. Instead, both SUVs will receive a facelift for the 2025 model year, or possibly even later.
The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2024 Chevrolet Suburban will be the fourth model year of their respective SUVs' current iteration. GM Authority has since learned that the full-size SUV lineup will not receive a model revision for the 2024 model year, contrary to what was previously believed.
Despite the fact that the refreshed Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban will not be available for the 2024 model year, both SUVs will receive a refresh at some point in the future. When they do arrive, the redesigned Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban will feature all of the expected updates and modifications.
Among these will be new styling, with a reworked front fascia that will likely include a two-tiered lighting setup for greater differentiation between the top and lesser trim levels. In addition, new roof-mounted antenna fins and 24-inch wheel options are anticipated.
The modifications will continue within the cabin, where the refreshed Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban will feature a larger infotainment screen and redesigned center stack. Under the hood, the SUVs will once again offer the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine and the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine. However, the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax presently offered will be replaced by the new 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax. The GM T1 platform will again provide the underpinnings, and production will occur at the GM Arlington facility in Texas.
Order Bank and Production Date
The Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban were both redesigned for the 2021 model year, and it is no longer anticipated that the 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2024 Chevrolet Suburban will undergo significant revisions over the 2023 model year. The redesigned Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban are presently anticipated to début for the 2025 model year, if not later. GM Authority has learned when dealers will be able to place orders for the 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban full-size SUVs.
According to GM Authority sources, dealers will be able to submit new orders for the 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban commencing Thursday, September 28th, 2023. On Monday, November 6, 2023, production of both SUVs is anticipated to commence. The GM Arlington plant in Texas will once again manufacture vehicles for the 2023 model year, as was the case previously.
According to previous GM Authority coverage, the 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe and 2024 Chevrolet Suburban were slated to receive a comprehensive redesign with numerous revisions and changes. Later, however, new information emerged indicating that the refreshed SUVs would not debut until the 2025 model year at the earliest.
Accordingly, the 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban will continue to offer the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine, at least for the time being. Previously, it was anticipated that both SUVs would offer the new 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine as a successor for the 3.0L I6 LM2 as part of the refresh. This is no longer the case, given that the update is now anticipated to debut at a later date.
Both SUVs are also available with two gasoline-powered engine variants, including the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine and the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine. The GM T1 platform underpins both SUVs.
